Wednesday December 30, 2020

Nephi, UT- Shortly after 6pm on December 29, 2020, Utah Highway Patrol Troopers stopped a black SUV northbound I-15 near mile post 220, just south of Nephi, for speeding and obscured license plate. During the course of the stop troopers became suspicious of criminal drug activity. The suspect vehicle fled from the troopers at over 90 mph. As troopers began to pursue the vehicle other resources were called in and spike strips were deployed. The vehicle stopped about mile post 240 near Rocky Ridge and the male driver ran from the vehicle into a field west of the freeway. Troopers, deputies and local law enforcement converged on the area and set up a containment of the area. The suspect was tracked down from the footprints he left in the snow and placed under arrest without incident. The female passenger was placed under arrest for active arrest warrants. An 8 month old child was located in the vehicle and placed with child protective services.
