Rollover Accident on SR-224

Friday September 18, 2020

On 09/18/2020, at 1426 hours, a single unit dump truck was traveling north on SR-224, down a steep grade. The truck left the roadway to the right. It appears that the driver over corrected to the left, and the truck began to roll. When the truck rolled, it lost its entire load of asphalt onto the roadway. The cab of the truck came to rest on top of a guardrail, making it difficult for fire to extricate the male. He was able to be removed from the truck after about an hour and a half, and was flown by helicopter to U of U hospital. Speed and drug use are being investigated as possible contributing factors. The roadway has since been reopened.
