Wrong-way fatal crash, Weber County

Sunday March 26, 2023

On March 26, 2023, at 2:56 am, Weber Dispatch received a call of a wrong-way driver, traveling northbound in the southbound lanes on I-15 in the Riverdale area.  At 400 North, the wrong-way vehicle collided head-on with a fully loaded semi-truck.  Both vehicles burst into flames.  The driver and passenger of the semi-truck were able to escape the cab of the truck. The driver and single occupant of the wrong-way vehicle is deceased. Fire personnel worked on the fire which had become fully engulfed for a couple of hours.   The freeway was closed in both directions from 2700 North in Pleasant View to 400 North in Marriott-Slaterville. The driver and co-driver were transported with non-life-threatening injuries.
