Wrong-way driver arrested for DUI in Parley’s Canyon

Thursday March 17, 2022

On Thursday, March 17, 2022, at about 1:10 am, witnesses reported a reckless driver that had hit the concrete barrier and several construction cones was now eastbound on I-80 in the westbound lanes. Original callers observed the vehicle near 700 east and notified police. Troopers responded to the area and eventually located the black pickup truck near milepost 137. The truck was stopped on the left shoulder facing eastbound in the westbound lanes with a flat tire and minor damage. Troopers conducted an investigation into the incident and arrested the 31-year-old male driver for DUI. This comes at a time when Utah has seen an increase in wrong-way driving incidents.
