Wasatch County Fatal (Driver ID Updated)

Tuesday December 27, 2022

On Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at about 10:50 am, a gray Toyota Camry was traveling westbound on US-40 near milepost 40 (near Strawberry Reservoir).  The roads were slushy/snow-covered.  The Toyota crossed the center line into the eastbound lanes and collided with a GMC Yukon head-on. The 20-year-old female driver of the Toyota sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. The driver of the Yukon is reported to be in serious condition and was transported to an area hospital. Several children were also transported from the Yukon with minor injuries. There were six occupants in the GMC.

US-40 was closed in both directions for approximately 2 hours. After that they opened lanes and alternated traffic through the scene. All lanes were opened just before 3 pm.
