Utah Department of Public Safety Enhances Their Victim Services by Connecting with Victims Via Texting

Wednesday October 11, 2017

Salt Lake County, UT – The Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Victim Information Notification Everyday program (VINE), will soon include the addition of Short Messaging Service (SMS) for the 25 County Jail Facilities and the Department of Corrections. This enhancement, commonly known as a text message, will be added during the latter part of November. The new service is available in both English and Spanish to provide more victims with the information they deserve.

The Utah Department of Public Safety will provide a solution that offers peace of mind for victims of crime and concerned citizens by giving them access to timely and reliable offender custody information. This revolutionary service lets victims call a toll-free number, visit www.VINELink.com, or use the VINEMobile™ app to anonymously check on an offender’s custody status. Users can also register to receive automated notifications about changes in that status via their choice of format: phone, email, TTY, and soon, SMS Text.
