Utah Department of Public Safety Encourages Utahns to Utilize Online and Mail-In Services
SALT LAKE CITY (March 16, 2020) — As part of the statewide efforts to limit the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS) is encouraging Utahns to utilize the many online and mail-in services that the department provides.
Online services available from DPS include the following:
- Driver license and ID card renewals
- Accident reports from the Utah Highway Patrol
- Concealed firearm permit and instructor certification renewal
- Request driving records
- Update your address with Driver License Division
- Print Driver License Division handbooks
Many of the services DPS’ Bureau of Criminal Identification provides can be accomplished through the mail. These include Bail Enforcement applications, initial Concealed Firearm Permit application, initial Concealed Firearm Permit Instructor application, Criminal History (Right of Access) request, Employment Background Checks, Expungement application, GRAMA requests, and Private Investigator License applications. Renew Driver License or ID Card
Under certain circumstances, you can renew your driver license or ID card online.
Request Accident Reports from the Utah Highway Patrol
The easiest way to retrieve and print automobile accident reports online. Enter case information, verify, pay and print the accident report in about 10 minutes!
Concealed Firearm Permit Renewal
Online renewal is fast (only 10 minutes) and secure, and your permit or certificate will be delivered to you by mail within a couple of weeks. Concealed Firearm Permit Instructors can also renew their certification online.
Notify Driver License Division of an Address Change
Utilize the Driver License website to update your address.
Requesting Your Personal Driving Record
This service allows you to purchase your personal MVR (otherwise known as a driving record). If you do not have a credit card/debit card with updated information that matches your driver license record, you may obtain an MVR in person at a local field station.
This service allows organizations to access Utah driver history records for things like pre-employment screening, background checks, and commercial driving records.
