UHP Memorial Day Weekend – DUI Blitz

Saturday May 25, 2019

Memorial Day Weekend kicks off the 100 Deadliest Days on Utah Roadways. In 2017, during the 100 Deadliest Day period, we had 85 fatal crashes with 90 fatalities statewide. In 2018, over the same period, we had a significant increase to 91 fatal crashes with 103 total fatalities statewide. 21 of those 103 fatalities were alcohol related.

To combat any additional crash fatalities resulting from alcohol and/or drug impairment. Troopers, Deputies and Officers will be out in force this weekend looking for impaired drivers. They’ll do so with the addition of over 85 statewide DUI enforcement shifts.

Those shifts will kick off with a DUI Blitz starting at nine o’clock tomorrow night in Murray. Troopers will be available for media ride-alongs.

WHEN: SATURDAY, May 25TH AT 9:00 P.M.

WHERE: The Utah Highway Patrol Office located at: 5681 S 320 W, Murray, Utah

WHO: Lieutenant Rob Nixon, the DUI Squad Commander, Craig Bickmore with the United Auto Dealers Association (presenting UHP a $5,000 check to help cover DUI enforcement overtime), and Sgt. Brady Zaugg the On-Call Public Information Officer.
