Two Trooper vehicles hit in Juab County

Wednesday December 7, 2022

On Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at about 4:30 pm, it began to snow a little harder than it had all day. The freeway between MP 222 and 228 became icy, multiple vehicles slid off, and some rolled. No serious injuries resulted from those incidents. Troopers were on the scene on a curve, trying to get those occupants to safety, when a semi-truck and trailer lost control. The trailer struck the driver’s side of one of the Trooper’s patrol car. He could see it coming and was trying to move to the right when it was struck. A short time later, a Ford Explorer then came along and lost control, and struck the other Trooper vehicle in the rear. That Trooper was not in his patrol car at the time. His K-9 was in the vehicle but was not injured. The first Trooper sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Northbound I-15 was closed until 1915. It is fully open now.
