Triple fatal in Kane Co (Updated)

On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at approximately 5:30 a head-on collision occurred near milepost 41 approximately 22 miles south/east of Kanab on SR-89. A south/eastbound white Honda SUV entered an area of slushy road conditions. The white Honda lost control and entered the north/westbound travel lane. The Honda impacted a north/westbound red Nissan Altima head-on. The 46-year-old femaledriver of the red Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene. The 16-year-old male passenger of the red Nissan was transported by ambulance to the local hospital and died at the hospital. A second-row 64-year-old female passenger in the white Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the white Honda was transported by ambulance to the local hospital and later flown to an area Hospital in critical condition. The front passenger of the white Honda was transported to a local hospital in an unknown condition. Initial investigation indicates that the front passenger of the red Nissan as well as the second-row passenger of the white Honda were not wearing seat belts. No impairment is suspected.
