Carjacked vehicle caused several crashes in Parley’s Canyon. (Updated/Pictures)

Friday November 4, 2022

On Friday, November 4, 2022, at about 5:50 am, UHP had calls of multiple crashes on I-80 eastbound in Parley’s Canyon caused by a reckless black Dodge Durango. It was reported that this vehicle had been carjacked somewhere in Salt Lake County. Right now, there could be up to 5 crashes, one of them being a rollover near Parley’s summit. Two crashes near the summit had individuals transported with minor injuries. The Dodge crashed and became disabled near milepost 148 and attempted to carjack eastbound vehicles but was unsuccessful. The 20-year-old male driver then hit a westbound vehicle with a rock and was attempting to carjack that vehicle when a Summit County Deputy arrived and took him into custody. There are multiple agencies working on different aspects of this case, and the investigation is ongoing. Impairment is being investigated in this incident.

This information is preliminary and is subject to change. Updates will follow.
