State Trooper Arrests Helena, Montana Homicide Suspect During Traffic Stop

Tuesday December 22, 2020

On 12-22-2020 around 16:05 hours, Trooper Brian Bairett was sitting stationary at milepost 65 northbound on I-15, in Iron County.  An attempt to locate broadcast for a reportedly reckless driving vehicle was put out over the radio. The vehicle had just passed Trooper Bairett’s location.  Multiple citizen’s traveling I-15 in the area called the Cedar City Dispatch Center and reported the vehicle tailgating, speeding, cutting in and out of traffic and driving aggressively.  Trooper Bairett was able to catch up to this vehicle at milepost 71 northbound.  Trooper Bairett witnessed this vehicle speeding at 98 mph and weaving in and out of traffic recklessly cutting off other vehicles.  Trooper Bairett initiated his emergency lights to make a traffic stop.  This vehicle started to pull over as if he was going to stop.  The vehicle then quickly got back on I-15 as if he was going to run.  Shortly thereafter, he pulled over and came to a stop.  Trooper Bairett made contact with the male who provided him with his ID card.  The man was identified as Troy Allen Mullin, age 37. Trooper Bairett entered Mullin’s information into his state computer and through Cedar dispatch and discovered that Mullin had a full extraditable warrant out of Helena, Montana for homicide.  Trooper Bairett took Mullin into custody without incident.   There were also 5 empty beer cans with one half full, marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle Mullin was operating. Mullin has been booked into the Iron County Jail where he will await extradition back to Montana.
