Road rage incident with shots fired in Weber County

Monday March 21, 2022

On Sunday, March 20, 2022, at approximately 4:55 pm, Weber Dispatch received a 911 call from a motorist who was involved in a road rage incident with another vehicle. The caller stated that the driver of a white Chevrolet Impala fired a gun at him on the freeway. The caller’s vehicle, a silver GMC Yukon, was not hit. The suspect vehicle took off at that point and continued northbound where Troopers in Box Elder County located it. Troopers followed the vehicle into Sardine Canyon (US-89/91), waiting for backup. When the Trooper attempted to stop the vehicle, it took off and a pursuit began. Once the vehicle was coming out of Sardine Canyon towards Wellsville, Cache County Troopers were waiting and spiked the vehicle. The suspect vehicle then lost control, ran off the road, and rolled. The driver was able to get out of the vehicle on his own and was taken into custody. He was then transported to the hospital to be checked out. After he was released, the 22-year-old male driver was booked into the Weber County jail. SBI has been called to assist with the investigation.
