Iron County Fatal Crash

Saturday July 8, 2023

On Friday, July 7th, 2023 at approximately 8:17 PM, a Honda Civic was traveling southbound on I-15 at about mile marker 90. The vehicle lost control and traveled off the road to the left into the median and rolled several times. The vehicle was occupied by five individuals. Two female passengers (one 19 year old and one 17 year old) were ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries. The male driver and another female passenger suffered critical injuries and were flown to a local hospital. A fourth female passenger suffered moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

Lanes were closed for approximately two hours while Troopers conducted on-scene investigation and evidence gathering. The cause and contributors to the crash are currently under investigation.

The 19 year old female who passed away in this crash has been identified as Alexia De Campos. The identification of the 17 year old who passed away will not be released due to her being a juvenile. Lack of seat belt use and excessive speed are being investigated as possible contributors to the crash.
