Injury crash on SR-6 MM 193

Monday October 7, 2019

DPS Incident Notification 7484 (Hwy Closure / Initial Information / Sent: 10-07-2019 18:49)

Section: 6 // District: D

Date: 10-07-2019

Time: 17:34

Location: SR-6, Spanish Fork Canyon

Mile Post: 193

Travel Direction: West

Inv. Agency: Utah Highway Patrol

Initial Description:
A dump truck pulling a flatbed trailer with a front end loader was westbound on SR-6. The dump truck drifted off to the right shoulder. The driver attempted to swerve back, but the trailer caught the lip of the asphalt and rolled over, coming to rest on the north side of the roadway. This caused the dump truck to whip across both lanes, off the south side of the roadway, and onto the railroad tracks. An eastbound mini-van occupied by two people was struck by either the loader or the dump truck. The mini-van went off the south side of the road and came to rest upside down next to the tracks. The two mini-van occupants were transported with Bravo and Charlie injuries. The driver of the dump truck sustained only minor cuts and scratches. Both directions of SR-6 are currently closed, we will attempt to run alternating traffic when fire and medical personnel clear. We will have to close both lanes again when the wreckers arrive to pull the commercial vehicles and equipment up and load them.
