I-215 Fatal Crash

Thursday June 29, 2023

On Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at about 12:48 pm, Troopers responded to assist with traffic control at the top of the 4700 S on-ramp to go I-215 W NB for a concrete pump truck that had become disabled in traffic. The truck had blown a tire that broke the air lines making it so that it would not move. Cones, emergency triangles were set up to close one of the on-ramp lanes for the incident.  A short time later, an approaching red GMC truck came across the lane and ran into the back of the pumper truck. The driver of the GMC sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. The driver of the pump truck was not injured. The eastbound to northbound on-ramp from 4700 South was closed for the crash investigation. Main flow I215 was also reduced to 2 left lanes for several hours during the investigation and cleanup. Investigators are working to determine what caused the vehicle to leave its lane and run into the truck.

GMC Driver (Fatal): Dan Wooden Age: 54 From: Salt Lake City, UT
