Fatal Crash SR 40 MP 36 ***UPDATED***

On 01/30/2021 at approximately 6:19 p.m., Troopers responded to reports of a head-on collision on SR 40 in Wasatch County. A small passenger sedan had crossed from the westbound traffic lane into the eastbound traffic lane where it collided with a pickup truck. The driver of the sedan was pinned and pronounced deceased by medical personnel. The driver of the pickup truck sustained incapacitating injuries and is expected to recover.

At this time, alcohol is being investigated as a contributing factor with the deceased driver of the sedan. Witnesses also reported seeing the sedan swerving prior to going into oncoming traffic and colliding with the truck.

Both directions of traffic were closed until 9:10 p.m., one lane is currently being used to alternate traffic through the area.

The deceased driver was identified as Robert Hoff, 54, from Fort Duchesne, UT.
