Fatal crash on US 40 MM 52

Initial Description:
SR-40 in the area of the crash was snowy and icy. A green Ford Expedition was eastbound on SR-40 when the driver lost control of the vehicle. It slid sideways into the westbound lanes of travel. The driver side of the Expedition impacted with the front plow portion of a westbound UDOT snow plow. The driver and rear seat, driver side passenger of the Expedition were both killed in the impact. The two occupants in the front passenger side and rear passenger side were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the snow plow was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. It appears that speed on the snowy roads and equipment issues were contributing factors. The front tires of the Expedition were sufficient, however the rear tires were largely bald and in an unsafe condition.

The deceased driver is Esteban Rivas-Dimas, age unknown, from Roosevelt

The deceased left rear passenger is Pascual Navarro, age unknown, from Mexico.
