Fatal Crash on I-80 at mile 9

On June 20, 2021 at approximately 06:20 hours, a pickup traveling eastbound on I-80 near MM 9 lost control and rolled multiple times on the right hand shoulder. Both occupants were ejected from the vehicle. The occupants were males in their twenties. A UHP trooper arrived shortly after the accident occurred and attempted life saving measures until medical arrived on scene. One male was declared deceased on scene. The other male was transported by medical helicopter in poor condition. Troopers are investigating if impairment was a factor in the rollover. It does not appear either males was wearing their seatbelt. The number two lane is expected to be shut down for the remainder of the morning while UHP does a investigation.
