Fatal crash on I-15 at MM 179 near Holden

Monday August 12, 2019

DPS Incident Notification 7317 (Crash – Fatal / Initial Information / Sent: 08-12-2019  11:22)

Section: 14 // District: B

Date: 08-12-2019

Time: 07:20

Location: I-15

Mile Post: 179

Travel Direction: South

Inv. Agency: UHP

Initial Description:
The driver of a Ford RV Conversion Vehicle was traveling south on I-15 when he lost control and began weaving back and forth across the roadway. The vehicle left the road to the right and the driver began to steer back to the left, causing the vehicle to roll one time and come to rest on its wheels. No other motorists observed the crash, but a passerby stopped to check on the vehicle and found the driver deceased in the driver’s seat. Troopers later learned that this same driver was contacted by Juab County Deputies yesterday evening in Nephi due to a medical incident. The driver refused transportation to a medical facility for additional observation. Based on that information, and the extended accident scene, it is suspected that a medical incident occurred again, leading to the driver going off the roadway. The deceased driver is Fred E Baker, age 75 of Deer Lodge, MT.
