Fatal crash, involving a child, west of Helper.

Sunday April 7, 2024

At 5AM on Sunday, April 7, 2024, a Dodge pickup truck towing an empty flatbed trailer, headed westbound on US-6 at mile 223 drifted across the center line and impacted an eastbound semitruck and trailer head on (passenger side to passenger side). The pickup driver’s daughter (six years-old), was seated in the back right seat, did not survive the impact. The driver’s of the semi and pickup were both transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Drowsy driving is suspected to be the cause of this incident.
