Fatal Crash in San Juan County

Saturday June 25, 2022
On 6/25/2022 at 4:26 PM two vehicles, a passenger car and a pickup truck, were traveling in opposite directions on SR-162 at mile marker 8 (the area of Montezuma Creek). For unknown reasons, one of the vehicle’s crossed the center line of the highway and the two vehicles colided head-on. When first responders arrived, the male driver of the passenger vehicle was declared deceased. The driver of the pickup truck was injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment. The crash was blocking both directions of the highway and troopers shut the highway down for the investigation. Names of the involved parties will be released pending family notification.
