Fatal Crash in Salt Lake County

Saturday October 1, 2022

On 10/1/2022 at about 1:02 PM Troopers were dispatched to a crash on southbound I-215 at about 1000 South. Witnesses stated a pickup truck was traveling in lane one when it suddenly traveled to the right and left the roadway. The truck entered a ravine to the right of the freeway and overturned into a ditch filled with water. When Troopers arrived on scene they found the pickup was upside-down in the water and two occupants (a male driver and one other occupant) had sustained fatal injuries. Troopers have closed the right lane while they conduct the investigation and recovery efforts. The driver has been identified as Travis Weight of Cache County, and his two year old son.
