Fatal Crash at Mile Marker 154 I-70
On December 18, 2021 at approximately 7:33 pm, a red Kenworth pulling an oversized gas field specialty trailer was eastbound on I-70 near mile post 154 occupied with a single male driver. A white Kenworth with double trailers was eastbound in the same area occupied by a single female driver.
The male driver of the front tractor-trailer stated he was traveling 55 mph with lights and flashers on. The rear tractor trailer impacted the rear of the front vehicles trailer and then ran off the road to the left. The front tractor-trailer continued and pulled off to the right side of the roadway in the emergency lane. The female driver was deceased on impact.
UTIP and MCIT have been notified and are assisting. SBI and SIAC are assisting with notification of next of kin.
