Emery County fatal crash

Monday March 21, 2022

On Sunday, March 20, 2022, at about 1:46 am, a 2022 white Ford with a single male driver was towing a trailer with 3 vehicles on it had pulled off into the right emergency lane to check his load while traveling eastbound on I-70 near milepost 158.  A 2015 silver Kia Sportage was also eastbound in the same area and for an unknown reason drifted into the right emergency lane and impacted the trailer causing severe frontend damage.  The Kia was occupied by two front-seat adult male passengers and two rear-seat male children passengers.  The driver and both children were airlifted to area hospitals with severe injuries.  The front seat passenger died from his injuries at the scene.  The driver of the Ford was not injured.  MCIT, SBI, UTIP, and the DPS Victims Advocate have all been notified and are assisting.  Notification is pending out of Kansas.
