Double Fatal- Highway 9 and Kolob Terrace Road

Sunday June 5, 2022

On June 5, 2022, at approximately 4:45 PM, an SUV was traveling southbound on Kolob Terrace Road at the intersection of Highway 9, near mile marker 19. The driver of the SUV stopped for the stop sign at the intersection, then for reasons still unknown, pulled out onto Highway 9 in front of a westbound tour bus. The tour bus driver was unable to avoid the SUV and the front of the tour bus struck the driver side of the SUV in a “T-bone” type collision.

Both front seat occupants of the SUV, the adult male driver and adult female passenger, were pronounced dead on scene by EMS personal. There were two other juvenile occupants in the SUV. One (female) juvenile was ejected from the vehicle transported via ambulance. One (male) juvenile was transported via life flight. The family appears to be non Utah residents on vacation.

The tour bus driver, the tour guide, and the passengers are cooperating with the investigation. Minor injuries were reported with the tour bus occupants.
