Double fatal crash in Utah County.

Friday July 8, 2022

On Thursday, July 7, 2022, at approximately 10:57 pm, DPS Dispatch received a report of a Honda SUV without lights stopped in the no.2 lane of northbound I-15 near milepost 284 in Lehi. Shortly after that report came in, it was reported that a Toyota passenger car hit the stationary Honda at freeway speeds. The 47-year-old male single occupant of the Honda was transported in critical condition and died at the hospital. The 51 year-old female passenger of the Toyota was also transported in critical condition and also died at the hospital. The driver of the Toyota was transported in fair condition. The family of the Toyota occupants were at the hospital and notification has been made. We are still working to verify the identity of the occupant of the Honda who is thought to be an Arizona resident. A medic helicopter responded to the scene but all occupants were transported by ground. I-15 northbound was closed at exit 284 northbound for several hours during the crash investigation.

Names of deceased:

The male driver of the Honda was Orin Halter, 47 years old, of Show Low, Arizona.

The female passenger of the Toyota was Jennifer Barber, 51 years old, of Park City, Utah.
