Wednesday April 8, 2020

DPS Incident Notification 7837 (Crash – Other / Initial Information / Sent: 04-08-2020  16:34)

Section: 4 // District: I

Date: 04-08-2020

Time: 14:23

Location: I-15 Northbound 11400 South

Mile Post: 293

Travel Direction: North

Inv. Agency: Utah Highway Patrol

Initial Description:
On April 8, 2020, at 1423 hours, a Red Honda Civic was exiting northbound 11400 south then made a last-minute decision to get back on main flow traffic and got stuck traveling in the shoulder.  A semi hauling a heavy load of rocks in the right lane (lane number five) saw the vehicle and began moving to the shoulder to avoid a crash. The sedan became trapped between the cement barrier and semi-trailer. The driver of the Honda Civic is a 43-year-old female now in critical condition. A medical helicopter was called out by fire and paramedic personnel and provided patient transport to a Wasatch Front area hospital. All northbound lanes have been closed for over 2 hours and will be estimated to re-open at 1745 hours.
