Saturday December 18, 2021

On December 18, 2021, at approximately 1329 hours, traffic began to slow at 5500 South I-15 northbound. A blue Mazda 3 (vehicle 2) and a blue Honda Civic(vehicle 3) began to slow down due to traffic congestion. A Mazda CX-5 (vehicle 1) was traveling directly behind these vehicles in lane four.

As the Honda and Mazda 3 began to slow, almost to a stop, the Mazda CX-5 impacted the rear of the Mazda 3 in a rear end crash. The impact caused the Mazda 3 to spin around in a counter clockwise motion and impact the rear of the Honda civic. The Mazda 3 came to a rest facing South in lane four. The Mazda CX-5 came to a rest in lane two.

There were 3 brothers in the Mazda 3. The front passenger and driver suffered minor injuries. The 15 year old backseat passenger was transported to IMC with life threatening injuries.
