Critical Injury Crash 7700 South I-15

Sunday June 5, 2022

On June 5, 2022, at approximately 3:18 PM, a black Kia was traveling southbound I-15 near 7700 South. Witnesses reported that the vehicle was unable to maintain it’s lane just prior to the collision. The Kia impacted a Ford explorer in the no. 1 lane and continued southbound as it drifted toward the left concrete barrier.

The Kia impacted the Ford explorer a second time causing it to rotate counterclockwise, coming to rest in the left emergency lane facing wrong way. A red Toyota SUV then made contact with passenger side door of the Kia to keep it from rolling forward out into live traffic.

When medical personnel arrived the female driver of the Kia SUV was unresponsive. Medical began life saving measures until they were able to transport her local area hospital in extremely critical condition. The injured female had a toddler aged child with her at the time of the crash, all other parties were uninjured. It is believed that the female suffered a medical condition prior to the crash due to the lack of damage to the involved vehicles.

MCIT is assisting with investigation. All but one lane of southbound I-15 was closed for approximately two hours to complete the investigation.
