Clarification on Firefighters deployed to Australia
DPS is aware of the reports regarding Firefighters from the state of Utah being deployed to assist with fire fighting efforts in Australia.
To avoid any confusion we want to clarify that this is not part of a State of Utah coordinated effort. The best information DPS currently has is this is part of a nation wide effort involving Firefighters from various federal agencies, some of which may currently be assigned in the state of Utah.
While we strongly support this effort, however it is separate from recent state coordinated deployments. Currently there have been no state resources requested to support this response.
