Cars Racing on I-15 results in a injured child (Updated 2/19/24)

Shortly before 7 p.m. on 2/17/2024 two red cars were racing on I-15 near MM 265 SB. One vehicle was a Dodge Charger, the other a Subaru WRX. The driver of the Subaru lost control, impacted the right concrete barrier, and ricocheted into the left barrier. Occupants of Subaru were all transport to the hospital. An unrestrained 4 year-old girl was transported in serious condition. Troopers were able to locate the driver of the Charger. Charges will be filed on both drivers. Other motorists played a big part in identifying the red Charger.

Update Feb. 19,2024

The adult male driver of the crashed Subaru was the females boyfriend and not related to the juvenile. He was arrested on outstanding warrants and booked into the Utah county jail. Charges will be screened for the racing incident.

The four-year-old female was transported in serious, but not life-threatening condition. she is being reported as stable.

With assistance of witness information, the driver of the Dodge charger was located and interviewed. Charges will be screened on this driver as well.

We will consult with the county attorneys office on any potential charges on the mother.
