Family Shares the Devastating Impacts of Drunk Driving

Friday December 15, 2017

Law enforcement will increase DUI patrols December 15th – January 1st to help everyone get home safely

In 2015 a poor choice changed their life in an instant when a drunk driver hit and killed their 27 year-old son Michael. They don’t want other families to endure the same pain.

“This did not need to happen,” Jan McMillian said. “There were people along the way that could have stopped it. Bars, bartenders please do not over-serve. If someone’s at your home: do not over-serve them.”

This holiday season our Utah Highway Patrol Troopers will be working an additional 300 shifts, and according to Col. Rapich “If you choose to drive while drinking, we will make sure you don’t have the opportunity to cause tragedy to someone else.”

We also encourage you to do your part. If you have a friend or family member who insists on getting behind the wheel drunk, take their keys away from them.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the McMillian family of South Jordan for their courage and dedication in helping us get the message out that “Drunk driving shatters lives.”

December 15th begins the national year-end Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement mobilization to get drunk drivers off the street and to spread the word about the dangers of impaired driving. During this time, officers from law enforcement agencies throughout the state will work more than 300 overtime shifts to de

ter, detect and remove drunk drivers from our roads.
