Fatal Crash on I-15 at MM 168

At 0515 hours on May 6th, 2021, a 2008 Ram pick-up truck pulling a large flat bed trailer entered Interstate 15 at mile post 167. The truck was occupied by a male driver and two male passengers. Near mile post 168 the truck’s trailer began to fish-tail. Fish-tailing increased until the driver was unable to maintain control and the vehicle went sideways into the median and rolled. A male passenger was ejected from the truck. That individual was transported to the hospital, but efforts to save him were unsuccessful. The driver suffered only minor injuries, the second passenger suffered serious injuries, but will likely survive.

The deceased man is Lucio Mata-Castro, age 28, of Heyburn, Idaho.
