Murder Suspect Arrested on I-80 in Tooele Co.

Tooele County UT- Utah Highway Patrol Troopers stopped a vehicle out of California on Thursday February 11, 2021 near mile post 74 on I-80 and arrested the occupants suspected in crimes out of state.

Approximately 1:31 PM on February 11, 2021 UHP Troopers had been notified of an Attempt to Locate (ATL) on a vehicle out of California. They were told the vehicle was occupied by a male out of Northern California suspected in the murder of three people.

Troopers located the gray Toyota SUV vehicle near mile post 61 about 2:45pm and put a plan in place to safely stop the vehicle and take the occupants into custody. The Department of Public Safety Helicopter as well as the DPS Special Emergency Response Team were on alert and prepared to assist if needed.

A traffic stop was initiated and the vehicle refused to stop. The vehicle’s tires were spiked shortly thereafter. The SUV came to a stop in the middle of the freeway near mile post 74. Troopers and deputies from Tooele County Sheriffs Office arrested two males and a female. One of the males was the suspect of a triple homicide and the other was arrested on outstanding warrants. The female was detained for questioning.

I-80 Eastbound was closed for about five minutes while the arrests took place.

UHP and the Utah State Bureau of Investigation are coordinating with authorities in California in regards to the alleged crime and suspects. The suspects were booked into the Tooele County Jail.
