Fatal Crash on I-80 at MM 60

Sunday December 27, 2020

On December 27, 2020 at approximately 2:46 pm, A Toyota pickup truck was traveling eastbound on I-80 at milepost 60.  For an unknown reason, the vehicle drifted off the left side of the road into the median.  The driver overcorrected right then back to the left.  The vehicle rotated broadside back into the median and began to roll.  The driver was ejected and died at the scene.  The vehicle came to rest in lane 2 on the westbound side and caught fire.  All traffic was blocked.  It is suspected the driver was not wearing his seatbelt.  Driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Information on the driver will not yet be released pending notification of family.
