Semi Rollover I-80 EB @ I-84 split (Echo Junction)

Thursday May 16, 2019

DPS Incident Notification 7080 (Crash – Other / Initial Information / Sent: 05-16-2019 15:25)

Section: 7 // District: 0

Date: 05-16-2019

Time: 13:25

Location: I-80 E/B at Echo Junction, I-84 split

Mile Post: 168

Travel Direction: East

Inv. Agency: Utah Highway Patrol

Initial Description:

At about 1325 hours, a Saturn Freight semi truck and box trailer was eastbound on I-80 approaching Echo Junction. It failed to negotiate the curve and overturned onto the driver side blocking most of I-80 eastbound. We are currently able to get one lane of traffic by the crash scene eastbound in the left lane. The male driver was transported to McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden with non-life threatening injuries. There is some diesel fuel that spilled on the pavement from the truck’s saddle tanks, but it was not hauling hazardous materials. It was a load of produce. The tow company is currently trying to upright the load. The on-ramp from I-84 eastbound to I-80 eastbound is currently closed. All traffic from I-84 is being required to go westbound and any desiring to go east will need to exit at Coalville and turn around.
