Chief Redd and Crime Lab Recognized By U.S Attorney’s Office
The U.S. Attorney for Utah hosted its annual Police Week Law Enforcement Awards on May 16, 2019. At the ceremony, 21 local, state and federal agents and agencies were recognized.
Two of those receiving recognition were DPS’ State Bureau of Investigation Chief Redd and the Crime Lab. Below are photos from the ceremony and descriptions of the basis for the awards.
“Chief Redd has been a valuable partner to the United States Attorney’s Office for well over a decade. In his many leadership roles performed on behalf of DPS and SBI, Chief Redd has been an advocate for his agency and the people of Utah. No matter the issue or context, Chief Redd has always risen to the occasion to assist the United States Attorney’s Office and the pursuit of justice in the State of Utah.”
“The Bureau of Forensic Services has always been an invaluable partner in our important federal cases. In 2018, the Crime Lab supported federal drug trafficking cases at entirely new levels as chemists spent 876 hours performing methamphetamine purity/Q&Q tests, compared to 192 hours the year before. A large volume of the increased tests supported the Target Enforcement Area and contributed to a 19.7 percent decrease in crime in Ogden in 2018. We rely on the expertise of partners like the Crime Lab to help us build successful prosecutions.”
Congratulations to Chief Redd and the Crime Lab! And thank you to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for our continued partnership!
