Rocky Mountain Interdiction Officer of the Year

Tuesday December 4, 2018

Trooper Jesse Williams was recently honored by the Rocky Mountain High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (RMHIDTA) as Outstanding Interdiction Officer of the year. Trooper Williams has been a law enforcement officer for over 16 years, and has been a trooper with the Utah Highway Patrol for approximately six years. Since Trooper Williams has been a trooper, he has become a team member and a vital part of our criminal interdiction team.

Trooper Williams is an informal leader; he is looked up to by not only team members, but officers from other agencies. Trooper Williams is a true example of the six values of the Utah Highway Patrol: Service, Integrity, Courage, Knowledge, Professionalism, and Teamwork. Not only does Williams work hard, but he works with a purpose. He has turned criminal interdiction into his passion. This year alone, Williams has made approximately 800 traffic stops, 70 drug arrests, 5 DUI arrests, and four major drug seizures totaling 44 pounds of methamphetamine, 17 pounds of cocaine, and 4 pounds of heroin.

The Department of Public Safety would like to congratulate Trooper Williams and thank the Rocky Mountain HIDTA for honoring his selfless work protecting Utah and its highways.
