It’s not just the responsibility of governments or CEO’s of large corporations that need to worry about cybercrime. Everyone has a part to play including the average person with a smart-phone. Five tips on cybersecurity for the average person.

Top Tips

Keep a clean machine.
  • Regularly scan devices for viruses, spyware, keep software up to date.
Avoid oversharing online.
  • Safeguard sensitive info, vacation plans, personal identifying info
Protect your password.
  • At least 8 characters, combo of letters, numbers and symbols, no dictionary words, no reuse across other websites.
Stay protected while connected.
  • Be cautious of the wi-fi networks you join when not at home, i.e. airports, hotels, restaurants. Passwords and other sensitive info can be captured.
