Monday June 3, 2024

On Friday, May 31, 2024, at approximately 6:39 am, a 1992 blue Ford Thunderbird was traveling west on SR-101. A Peterbuilt semi hauling cattle was traveling east in the same location. Just west of milepost 1, the Thunderbird drifted left over the centerline and struck the semi head-on. The semi was a hauling live cattle. The trailer did not over turn and two cattle were lost. The driver of the Peterbuilt was not injured. The 44-year-old male driver of the Thunderbird was the only occupant and stained fatal injures passed away at an area hospital. Lane closures affected SR-101 for 5 and 1/2 hours during the crash investigation.
