Fatal Crash I-15 in Iron County

Saturday August 5, 2023

On Friday August 4, 2023, at about 7:25 pm, a white Dodge, Ram 2500 pickup truck, was travelling southbound on I-15 near mile marker 82. It appeared there had been a mechanical failure under the vehicle causing a fire to enter the cab. The vehicle started to veer off the roadway to the right onto the shoulder.  The driver jumped from the vehicle. The vehicle continued to burn as it went through the gore area, crossed the ramp. The vehicle then drove through the Interstate fence, crossed the frontage road and came to rest in a sagebrush field. The vehicle started multiple brush fires along its path, that were all extinguished. Witnesses attempted CPR on the driver until medical determined the driver was deceased. Traffic was temporarily impacted, with the right lane of I-15 being closed in addition to the frontage road.
