The Governor’s Public Safety Summit

The eleventh annual Public Safety Summit was hosted by Governor Gary Herbert Wednesday. Bringing hundreds of members of law enforcement, EMS, fire, health care and administrators from all over Utah. The summit discusses ideas and ways to improve public safety by bringing professionals from multiple disciplines of public safety together for two days.

This summit brought over 400 men and women from around the state.  The Summit includes valuable presentations and workshops by public safety peers from across the country. Presentations given by officers who dealt with the deadly Las Vegas shooting and the fires and mudslides that struck Santa Barbara County.

Local presenters discussed Operation Rio Grande and the behind-the-scenes efforts that went into the three-phased Operation. “Due to strong partnerships, the Rio Grande District is an amazingly better place today,” said Commissioner Keith Squires of the Utah Department of Public Safety. “In Utah we are fortunate to have partners across the state. We are not limited to just a city or county. We are one when it comes to helping those in need.”
