Logan Canyon Fatal Crash. (Updated)

On Wednesday, March 29, 2029, at about 3:23 pm, a Kia Rio passenger car was traveling southbound on US-89 in Logan Canyon. A Ford Excursion was traveling northbound in the same area. At milepost 488 the road curves and our preliminary investigation shows that both vehicles were hugging or on the centerline when the Kia seemed to swerve into the oncoming lane, colliding head-on with the Ford. There were five occupants in the Kia including a male baby. The 21-year-old female driver and the 24-year-old male front passenger of were killed on impact. The left rear 17-year-old female passenger was transported by ambulance in extremely critical condition. She died upon arriving at the hospital. The adult male in the right rear was flown by medical helicopter with severe injuries. The baby was also taken by ambulance with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Driver of the Ford was checked out on scene, but had only minor injuries. Troopers conducted a DUI investigation of the Ford driver and he was arrested for Impaired driving.

US-89 was closed for approximately 3 1/2 hours during the crash investigation and clean up.
