Sheriff Jared W. Rigby Appointed as Director of POST

Commissioner Jess L. Anderson has appointed Wasatch County Sheriff Jared W. Rigby as the new Director of POST (Utah Peace Officer Standards and Training). The Department of Public Safety congratulates him, his wife, and his children on this new accomplishment.

We are confident that Sheriff Rigby’s 17 years in law enforcement along with his immense knowledge through education will provide the needed skills to lead the upcoming generations of law enforcement officers.” -Commissioner Jess L. Newly appointed Director Rigby has been serving as the Wasatch County Sheriff before accepting this role. His previous experience includes conducting investigations for Summit County Sheriff’s Office and Heber City Police Department, he worked at Brigham Young University and is a certified corrections officer. Aside from the experience gained within his 17-plus years in law enforcement, he also brings a wealth of knowledge from his education. Director Rigby graduated from the FBI National Academy in Virginia, he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from BYU, has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration, and a Juris Doctorate Degree. Rigby is also a licensed attorney in the State of Utah. Jared fills the vacancy created by Major Scott Stephenson.
