Critical Injury Crash on US-189 near MM 12

Monday August 22, 2022

On August 21, 2022, at approximately 1942 hours, Troopers were dispatched to a serious injury crash on US-189, near milepost 12. It appears a Toyota Camry passenger car was pulling out of Vivian Park onto US-189 westbound, when it pulled out in front of a Nissan Rogue traveling eastbound. The front of the vehicle traveling eastbound collided with the driver side of the passenger car pulling out of Vivian Park.

The male driver of the passenger car that was pulling out of Vivian Park was transported to the hospital in serious condition. The female driver of the northbound vehicle was also transported in serious condition. The condition of both drivers was later downgraded and both drivers are in critical condition.

There was a third vehicle involved, a Ford Escape that was hit by debris from the impact of the crash. The driver of that vehicle was uninjured. There was heavy rain in the area at the time of the incident. Both directions of US-189 were closed for scene documentation and investigation.
