Ogden crash with critical injuries (Updated)
Update 3:20 pm
The three year-old girl involved in todays crash passed away as a result of her injuries.
On Wednesday March 9, 2022 at about 4:57 am, several crashes occurred on I-15 northbound near 21st St in Ogden (milepost 344). Officers separated these into three different collisions totalling 9 or 10 vehicles. Several vehicles were blocking lanes and multiple parties were reporting injuries. Due to the serious nature of the injuries with blocking vehicles and slick conditions, troopers closed I-15 northbound diverting traffic off of the 21st St. exit.
The more serious of these crashes involved 5 vehicles. A Hyundai Genesis lost control to the left and hit the center concrete barrier then came to rest facing the wrong way. Shortly after that, a Chrysler PT Cruiser over corrected to miss the Hyundai and also hit the center concrete barrier and came to rest sideways blocking lane one and two. A Dodge Ram was unable to avoid the PT Cruiser and hit the vehicle on the left driver side at the rear passenger door. As the fourth vehicle, a Toyota Corolla, came around the corner and hit the Hyundai Genesis head on. The last vehicle, a Honda Civic, came around the corner and hit the PT Cruiser on the right passenger side.
A three year old girl from the PT Cruiser was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries, along with one adult with other non life threatening injuries.
I-15 was closed northbound and reopened at about 7 am.
