Information regarding a Tooele crash into Icy Water

Wednesday January 26, 2022

On Sunday January 12, 2022 at about 7:18 am, a yellow Ford Focus was traveling westbound on I-80 near milepost 80. The Ford ran off the roadway to the left then over-corrected back to the right. It re-entered the roadway and ran off the right shoulder while rotating eastbound. The Ford struck a delineator post and rolled into a wire fence. The vehicle came to a complete stop facing northeast and was partially submerged in ice water. The driver of Vehicle 1 exited and then became trapped in icy water. Troopers worked with an out of state off duty firefighter to eventually remove the 68 year old female driver from the icy water where she was stuck. She was transported to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries and exposure to the cold.
