Wednesday January 5, 2022

Update: 1/5/22 at 11:30 am

On January 5 at approximately 0744 in the area of Covered Bridge (milepost 181) on US-6, a Toyota Prius was westbound when, for an unknown reason, it crossed the double yellow into the eastbound lane and struck a Ford Utility truck and trailer head-on. (This is a correction, no semi was involved) The 19 year-old male driver of the Toyota was killed in the collision. The driver (single-occupant) of the Ford was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Eastbound and Westbound traffic was closed in the area for over 2 hours during the investigation.

Initial Report: 1/5/22 8:30 am

Preliminary reports of a fatal crash that has occurred on SR-6 at milepost 181 near the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon. It appears to be a semi and a car involved and it is blocking all of SR-6. Traffic is closed in both direction. Estimated closure time is 1 to 2 hours but could be longer. Traffic is being turned around near the crash scene. Early reports show that there is one fatal and 2 other non-life threatening injuries. First responders are on scene.
