Utah Highway Patrol / State Bureau of Investigation Seize Mass Quantity of Meth

Thursday April 27, 2017

On the morning of April 25, a UHP Trooper patrolling the area near the Utah/Arizona border stopped a vehicle heading northbound. A UHP K-9 was dispatched to the scene, where it indicated to the presence of narcotics. Further searching revealed two secret compartments containing 42 brick shaped packages, totaling 50 pounds. Field testing returned positive results for methamphetamine. The driver, a 27-year-old man from Las Vegas, Nevada, was arrested and booked into the Washington County Jail.

It is believed that the narcotics originated in California and were en-route to the upper mid-west portion of the country.  The Department of Public Safety is deeply committed to keeping drugs off Utah’s roads and out of our communities. DPS looks for all crimes and all hazards on Utah roads.
